SpicyChat AI Review 2026: Big Free Library, $19.95 Useful Tier and No App Store
What SpicyChat AI gives you free, why the tier most people want costs $19.95 a month, and the missing app-store app.

Quick Verdict
Very Good
SpicyChat AI is the lowest-friction way into uncensored, Character-AI-style roleplay: a familiar interface, a vast community library, 18+ allowed by default, and a free tier you can genuinely use. The catch is value.
The $5.95 Get A Taste tier barely differs from free, so the tier most people actually want — for longer memory and images — is True Supporter at $19.95/month, more than Candy AI and with no annual discount.
It is also effectively app-less: Apple pulled the iOS app in 2025, so you use the website, a PWA, or an official Android APK. Best for cheap, permissive text roleplay; weak on polish, privacy and cross-chat memory.

SpicyChat AI is a free, web-based character-roleplay platform where you chat with a huge library of user-made AI personas, including the 18+ characters Character AI blocks.
It suits people leaving Character AI who want the same familiar flow with fewer filters and no setup, and it is run by NextDay AI Incorporated of Montreal, Canada.
This SpicyChat AI review is research-based — drawing on SpicyChat's own terms, privacy policy and 2257 statement plus Trustpilot and independent reporting, checked October 2026; live prices show only inside the app, so figures here are third-party-verified and dated.
The free tier is rate-limited with ads and queues; paid plans run $5.95–$29.95/month with no annual option, and the genuinely useful tier is $19.95.
SpicyChat AI Review Summary
| What we score | Score | Why this score |
|---|---|---|
| Features | 7.5 | Big library, roughly two dozen models, group chat, lorebooks and a 12-language mode (third-party reports); docked for per-chat memory and limited images. |
| Pricing | 7.2 | A cheap $5.95 entry, but it barely differs from free; the genuinely useful True Supporter tier is $19.95 — more than Candy AI — with no annual plan, so recalibrated down from 8.5. |
| Usability | 7.5 | No setup and a familiar Character-AI-style interface, but docked for the lack of an app-store app, APK sideloading and free-tier ads and queues. |
| Safety | 6.0 | Correct documented limits on minors, non-consent and deepfakes, but a self-declared age gate, no encryption or 2FA claim, vague retention and a poor 2.1/5 Trustpilot rating pull this below the mean. |
| Content | 8.0 | Permissive 18+ roleplay by default across a very large community library, with clearly documented prohibitions. |
| Overall | 7.3 | Very Good — our editorial judgement, informed by the five scores above. How we score |

Why SpicyChat Is the Default Character AI Escape Hatch
SpicyChat AI is a character-chatbot platform built for roleplay with AI personas, including romantic and 18+ scenarios. You browse a public library of community-made characters — each with a name, avatar, personality and opening scene — start chatting, and the model stays in character.
The interface is modelled closely on Character AI, so anyone arriving from there is at home within seconds; the difference is that SpicyChat does not filter adult content.
It is text-first, with images and voice layered on at the paid tiers, rather than a multimedia companion like Candy AI.
It is operated by NextDay AI Incorporated, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with subsidiaries NextDay AI USA Inc (Delaware) and NextDay AI EU Ltd (Cyprus) — confirmed in the site's own terms and 2257 statement.
One widely repeated claim does not hold up: that NextDay AI also runs GirlfriendGPT. GirlfriendGPT now operates as Infatuated.ai under Cogito Sum LLC, and NextDay AI is named nowhere in its terms, so we do not connect the two products.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Operator | NextDay AI Incorporated (Montreal, Canada); subsidiaries in Delaware, US and Cyprus, EU |
| Headquarters | Montreal, Quebec, Canada (Quebec law; Montreal courts) |
| Platforms | Web + PWA + official Android APK; no iOS app, no official Google Play app |
| Free access | Yes — text chat, full library, 18+ on; rate-limited with ads and peak-time queues |
| Cheapest paid | Get A Taste $5.95/month (near-identical to free) |
| Useful tier | True Supporter $19.95/month (images, ~8K context, Semantic Memory) |
| Billing model | Flat monthly tiers, no tokens, no annual plan (prices rose Sep 2026) |
| Payments / refunds | Card on web; Google Play or PayPal via the PixelChat companion; refunds limited, via support |
| Age gate | 18+ in policy, but self-declared with no robust verification |
| Data / training | No encryption or 2FA claim; vague retention; shares data with providers and partners; training on chats not addressed |
| Notable incident | Apple removed the iOS app (27 Aug 2025); store "SpicyChat" apps are clones |
What It Really Costs (and Why "Cheapest" Needs an Asterisk)
SpicyChat is free to start, and the entry tier is genuinely cheap — but the tier most people actually want is not, and there is no annual discount to soften it.
The prices below were checked in October 2026 from a dated third-party tracker; SpicyChat shows live prices only inside its in-app subscribe screen, and a reported increase on 8 September 2026 means older write-ups still quote lower figures.
Confirm the current price in the app before you pay.
| Plan | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Text chat (rate-limited, with ads and peak-time queues), full library, basic models, 18+ on |
| Get A Taste | $5.95/month | Removes ads and queues and adds a few models — but keeps the same ~4K context and short replies as free |
| True Supporter | $19.95/month | Roughly 8K context, conversation images, Semantic Memory and more models — the tier most regular users want |
| I'm All In | $29.95/month | Top models, text-to-speech voice, the largest context and 100 personas — for daily power users |
So the "cheapest in the category" headline needs an asterisk.
Get A Taste at $5.95 is a near-impulse buy, but according to a third-party tier breakdown it keeps the same 4,096-token context window and clipped reply length as the free plan — it mainly buys you out of ads and the peak-time queue.
The first tier that meaningfully improves memory and unlocks images is True Supporter at $19.95, which is more than Candy AI Premium ($13.99) and Nomi AI ($15.99).
There are no tokens — these are flat subscriptions, which at least makes billing predictable — and no yearly plan, so a regular user pays about $239 a year with no discount.
There Is No Real App Any More — Here Is How to Use It Safely
One thing surprises newcomers: SpicyChat no longer has an official app-store app.
Apple removed the iOS app on 27 August 2025, and existing installs stopped working on 25 September 2025; old Apple subscriptions no longer auto-renew, so anyone who paid through Apple has to re-subscribe on the web. Google Play never allowed an official Android build.
Any app called "SpicyChat" in the App Store or Play today is a third-party clone, often run through shell companies and sometimes carrying adware — treat those as unsafe and do not enter your account details.
The supported ways in are the website in any browser, the site installed to your home screen as a PWA, or an official Android APK downloaded directly from spicychat.ai.
Because an APK sits outside Google Play's checks, only download it from the official domain and avoid mirror sites.
For mobile payment, SpicyChat routes through a companion app called PixelChat — a safe-for-work "twin" on Google Play — so you can pay by Google Play billing or PayPal there and have the subscription carry to your SpicyChat account; on the web it is card only.
It works, but "install an APK from a website" is more friction than the polished native apps Kindroid and Nomi ship.
Models, Memory and the 2026 Additions
SpicyChat's core is scale: a very large library of community characters, a guided creator, and a spread of AI models across tiers.
A third-party breakdown dated October 2026 puts it at roughly six models on the free plan rising to about two dozen on the top tier, with larger, higher-context models unlocking as you pay up — which is the honest reason the free experience can disappoint.
Often it is the small model behind a character, not the character itself, that feels dull, and upgrading buys a better model as much as it removes limits.
The limitation to understand before paying is memory and length.
According to that breakdown the context window runs about 4,096 tokens on free and Get A Taste, 8,192 on True Supporter and up to roughly 32,768 on I'm All In (one older source says 16K — the figure is contested), and reply length is capped at around 180 tokens until the paid tiers lift it to about 300.
Paid plans add a Memory Manager, but memory is still largely organised per chat rather than carried reliably across separate conversations. Images ("conversation images") are limited on the lower tiers and fuller from True Supporter up; text-to-speech voice is exclusive to the top tier.
Two 2026 additions are worth knowing, both reported by third-party coverage rather than an official changelog: group chat, which puts multiple characters in one thread, plus lorebooks for world-building; and a native multilingual mode launched on 1 April 2026 with about a dozen languages (French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and more), so a character answers natively rather than auto-translating.
SpicyChat's identity is text roleplay at scale and low cost, not multimedia or deep continuity.
Age Gate, Content Rules and Privacy
On content, SpicyChat is one of the more permissive mainstream platforms: romantic and explicit adult roleplay are allowed by default.
Its terms set the right hard limits — they prohibit content that sexualises minors (including AI-generated or fictional depictions), content that depicts or resembles real, identifiable people or deepfakes, and non-consensual sexual activity.
The weak point is enforcement at the front door: the privacy policy states the service is not for anyone under 18, but age-gating is essentially a self-declared checkbox with no robust verification.
On privacy, treat your chats as stored on a third-party server.
SpicyChat's privacy policy makes no end-to-end-encryption claim (only the standard "no method … is 100% secure" disclaimer), does not mention two-factor login, keeps retention vague ("only for as long as is necessary"), and notes your data may be transferred to and stored on computers outside your country.
It says it shares personal information with service providers and business partners; it does not state that chats are used to train its models, and it does not claim to sell data to advertisers.
Its public reputation is poor — a Trustpilot score of 2.1 out of 5 from 61 reviews (checked October 2026), with recurring complaints about memory resets, free-tier queues and ads.
None of that makes it unusable, but it is a value-led product, not a privacy-led one: use a burner email and keep real identifying and financial details out of your conversations.
Is SpicyChat Right for You?
Use SpicyChat if you are leaving Character AI and want the closest uncensored replacement for as little money as possible, you mainly want text roleplay, and you value a huge free library over polish.
The free tier removes all risk, so you can decide before paying anything.
Look elsewhere if your priority is high-quality images or video, a real native app, strong privacy and encryption, or memory that genuinely carries across sessions.
For an all-round companion with voice and images, Candy AI is more polished at a lower useful-tier price; for maximum control over the model, Janitor AI pays off once you have done the setup.
How SpicyChat Stacks Up Against the Alternatives
| Compared with | Where SpicyChat wins | Where the rival wins |
|---|---|---|
| Character.AI | Allows 18+ roleplay with the same familiar interface and a far larger community library | Cleaner curation and a real native app, but blocks adult content |
| Janitor AI | Works instantly — no API keys or model setup | More flexible and can be higher quality, because you choose the model backend |
| Candy AI | A huge free library and a cheaper entry tier | Better voice, image quality and a lower price on its genuinely useful tier |
| CrushOn AI | Bigger model spread, images on paid tiers and a larger community | Similar low entry price, but text-only with a weaker privacy record |
SpicyChat's lane is clear and defensible: the easiest, most permissive on-ramp into AI character roleplay, cheap to try and cheap to start.
It does not try to be the best at anything else, and that focus is exactly why it works for its target user — provided that user is comfortable with a web app, modest memory and thin privacy.
How We Researched This Review
This is a research-based review. No paid subscription was purchased and the platform was not evaluated first-hand.
In October 2026 we read SpicyChat's own terms and conditions, privacy policy, 2257 compliance statement and homepage; checked the sister-site Infatuated.ai terms to resolve who actually operates GirlfriendGPT; recorded SpicyChat's Trustpilot score; and used a dated specialist tracker (RoboRhythms) for the live subscription prices, per-tier context sizes and the app-removal timeline, because SpicyChat does not publish those on a static page.
That shapes the scores. Operator, governing law, age policy and content rules come from primary documents and carry high confidence.
Pricing, per-tier limits and the 2026 features rest on dated third-party reporting, so they carry lower confidence and may change — which is why we date them and tell you to confirm in-app.
Quality judgements (model strength, memory behaviour) reflect documented capability and third-party consensus, not our own observation.

| Power user | I'm All In for top models, voice and the largest context | $29.95 est. |

What We Liked
- Easiest switch from Character AI — almost no learning curve and no setup
- 18+ roleplay allowed by default, no jailbreak prompts needed
- Genuinely usable free tier with a huge community character library
- Flat monthly tiers with no token meter — predictable billing
- Group chat, lorebooks and a 12-language mode added in 2026 (per third-party reports)
- Clearly documented bans on minors, non-consent and real-person deepfakes
What Could Be Better
- The genuinely useful tier (True Supporter, $19.95/mo) costs more than Candy AI, with no annual discount — a problem for regular users
- The $5.95 Get A Taste tier keeps the same ~4K context and short replies as free, so it fixes little for roleplayers
- No official app-store app: Apple pulled the iOS app in Aug 2025 and store "SpicyChat" apps are clones, so Android users must sideload an APK
- Memory is largely per-chat, not reliable across separate conversations — frustrating for long-running stories
- Weak self-declared age gate, no end-to-end encryption and no 2FA — a concern for privacy-sensitive users
- Poor public reputation (Trustpilot 2.1/5 from 61 reviews, Oct 2026); the free tier has ads and peak-time queues

Frequently Asked Questions
SpicyChat has a usable free tier, then three flat monthly tiers: Get A Taste at $5.95, True Supporter at $19.95 and I'm All In at $29.95. There is no annual plan and no token system.
The entry tier is cheap but barely differs from free; the tier most people want (True Supporter, for images and better memory) costs more than Candy AI.
Prices were checked in October 2026 from a dated third-party tracker and reportedly rose in September 2026, and SpicyChat shows live prices only in its in-app subscribe screen — so confirm the current figure before you buy.
Yes. The free tier is genuinely usable: text chat with the full community character library and 18+ content enabled.
The limits are real — ads, peak-time queues and only about 4,000 tokens of context (short memory) — so regular users move to a paid tier, but you can evaluate the platform fully before paying anything. It is not "unlimited": the free tier is rate-limited.
SpicyChat is operated by NextDay AI Incorporated, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with subsidiaries NextDay AI USA Inc (Delaware) and NextDay AI EU Ltd (Cyprus) — all named in the site's own terms and 2257 statement.
Despite a claim that circulates in AI directories, NextDay AI does not run GirlfriendGPT: that service (now Infatuated.ai) is operated by Cogito Sum LLC, and NextDay AI appears nowhere in its terms.
Not an official app-store app any more.
Apple removed the iOS app on 27 August 2025 (existing installs stopped working weeks later), and Google Play never allowed an official Android build, so any "SpicyChat" app in the stores today is a third-party clone you should avoid.
The supported ways to use it are the website, the site installed as a PWA, or an official Android APK downloaded directly from spicychat.ai. For mobile billing it uses a safe-for-work companion app called PixelChat.
It is reasonably safe for adults but not a privacy-first product.
The privacy policy makes no end-to-end-encryption claim, does not mention two-factor login, keeps data retention vague, and notes your data may be stored outside your country; age verification is a weak self-declared checkbox, and its public rating is poor (Trustpilot 2.1/5 from 61 reviews, October 2026).
Treat chats as stored on a third-party server: use a burner email and keep real identifying and financial details out of your conversations.
Yes, by default and more openly than Character AI, with no jailbreak prompts needed.
Hard limits stay in place — the terms prohibit content that sexualises minors (including fictional or AI-generated), content depicting or resembling real identifiable people or deepfakes, and non-consensual sexual activity — but front-door age-gating is weak.
Image generation is available from the True Supporter tier up.
SpicyChat is essentially Character AI with fewer content filters and a near-identical interface. Character AI blocks adult content but has cleaner curation and a real native app; SpicyChat allows 18+ roleplay and has a far larger, community-driven library, but no official app-store app any more.
For adult roleplay SpicyChat wins; for filtered, family-friendly chat, Character AI is more polished.
Manage your subscription wherever you bought it: on the web you cancel in your SpicyChat account, and on mobile you cancel through the PixelChat companion (Google Play or PayPal). Cancel before the monthly renewal date to avoid the next charge.
Refunds are limited — the terms point to a separate Refund Policy handled through support rather than a self-service refund — so request one promptly and keep your receipt.
Bottom Line
SpicyChat AI scores 7.3/10 (very good). It's best for: people leaving Character AI who want familiar, uncensored text roleplay on a big free library.
