KinkD Review 2026: Swipe Kink App, Unencrypted Messages and Paid VIP

KinkD is a mobile dating app that uses swipe cards and mutual matching for people into BDSM and kink. The iOS listing is titled "Kink, BDSM Kinky Dating: KinkD" and is rated 18+.

It is not a website product. The kinkd.app address shows a hosting placeholder, and the legal pages live on a separate domain, kinkddating.com. Anyone looking for a web login will not find one.

The company's own marketing page calls it "a new app" and says it has no relationship with Whiplr or FetLife. The current iOS listing was first released in January 2022, so the "launched in 2017" claim that circulates could not be confirmed.

The Google Play listing says you can start one private chat with another user each day for free. It also says chatting with your mutual matches is free.

Store reviews, which are user reports, say search filters sit behind the paywall. The company does not publish a feature list for VIP.

The US App Store lists three "KINKD VIP MEMBER" auto-renewing purchases at $12.99, $33.99 and $53.99. The listing does not show how long each plan lasts, so no monthly price can be worked out.

Older articles quote a $14.99 monthly Premium plan and a $9.99 annual rate. Neither price appears in the store listing.

The terms say, "We do not always encrypt your messages," and reserve the right to monitor messages and other content for rule compliance. That is a plain statement that private chats are not guaranteed private.

The terms also say the company may, at its discretion, make your profile visible to users of other websites and apps run by the company or group companies. The profile-sharing rule is worth reading before you upload photos.

The privacy policy says signup uses email and that device location is collected. A mobile number is used for text alerts and, in the policy's words, as part of a verification step.

The Android Data Safety label says device IDs may be shared with third parties.

Two different entities appear in the stores. The iOS seller is Dominant Life Limited, while the Android developer is registered as a sole proprietorship in Chongqing, China.

No data breach, regulator action or store removal was found for KinkD.

A November 2023 trade-press report on the company's own survey of 3,033 women users said many reported fake Sub or Dom profiles and non-consensual experiences. The report is secondary and the numbers are the company's, so treat them as indicative.

At that time the company said it was looking to adopt verification tools.

The terms say ID may be requested to verify identity. No public document describes a photo-verification badge, so do not assume matches are verified.

Basic precautions apply. Use a pseudonym, avoid linking real social accounts, and be wary of anyone who moves you to an outside payment or cam link. See what BDSM is for the consent basics.

The other apps and sites are different in kind. FetLife is a free social network, not a dating site. Alt.com is web-only with a free Standard membership.

Fetish.com is a social network with optional age verification and an app. Feeld is a broader open-minded dating app.

Whiplr, once the best-known kink app, appears to be discontinued: its domain redirects to an unrelated list and neither app store carries it. Our best BDSM dating apps and kinky dating sites pages rank the options.

KinkD is aimed at adults who want to meet kink-minded people through a phone app rather than a forum or a website. If you prefer swiping to browsing, the format will feel familiar.

The free allowance is small but real: one new private chat a day, and open chat once you match. That is enough to see whether your area has active profiles before spending anything.

Before buying VIP, check the plan length and renewal date on the purchase screen, because the store listing does not state them. Cancellation is handled in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, not on a website.

If the encryption wording concerns you, keep chats free of identifying details and move to a private channel only once you trust the person. Read the discreet dating apps guide for privacy-first options.

This review is based on desk research in October 2026. Sources checked were the iOS and Google Play listings, the terms and privacy policy, the company's marketing page, the kinkd.app placeholder and one trade-press report.

No account was created, no subscription was bought and the app was not used. Sub-scores therefore rest on documented features and store ratings, which means lower confidence than a tested review.

Plan lengths, VIP features and the verification process are not published, and are marked as such.
