OnlyFans Review 2026: Huge Audience, 20% Fee, No Built-In Discovery
What OnlyFans costs creators, why its reach is unmatched, and the one thing it still won't do for you.

Quick Verdict
Excellent
OnlyFans is the best-known creator subscription platform and its terms are straightforward: free to join, a flat 20% fee and creator-set prices from $4.99 to $50 a month.
It suits creators who already bring their own audience, and fans who want to follow one specific creator. The biggest weaknesses are that it has no app, documents no on-platform discovery, and carries a regulatory and ownership record worth reading.
The score rests on documented features and third-party reporting, not direct use, so treat it as a well-sourced research view.

OnlyFans is a subscription platform where creators sell access to posts, messages and live streams. It is run by Fenix International Limited in London and is free to join for both creators and fans.
This OnlyFans review is research-based: no account was opened and no money was spent.
Creators keep 80% of every fan payment, and subscriptions run $4.99–$50 a month. The main caveats are that there is no iOS or Android app, and that Ofcom fined the company in 2025 over its age-check disclosures.
Verdict: a mature, clearly priced choice for creators who bring their own traffic.

OnlyFans Review Summary
| What we score | Score | Why this score |
|---|---|---|
| Features | 8.4 | Documented tools (PPV, bundles, tips, two-step login, DRM) are broad; scored from help-center pages, not direct use. |
| Pricing | 8.2 | Flat 20% fee and wide price range are clear; held back by the 7-day pending period and non-refundable wallet. |
| Usability | 8.0 | Web-only with no app per the help center; no usability testing was done, so this is a lower-confidence score. |
| Safety | 7.8 | ID and age checks are documented, but the 2025 Ofcom fine and statement visibility lower this score. |

What Is OnlyFans and Who Is It For?
OnlyFans lets a creator publish a feed, send direct messages and sell pay-per-view (PPV) content to people who follow or subscribe. Fans pay the creator's chosen price, and the platform takes a fixed cut.
It is best known for adult content, but the terms apply to any creator who passes verification. Its separate OFTV video app is safe-for-work and is a different product.
The platform is operated by Fenix International Limited, a UK company incorporated in September 2016. Press coverage of its filed accounts put registered creator accounts at 4.63 million and fan accounts at 377.5 million for the 2024 financial year.
For the year to November 2025, the same coverage cited about 2.5 million active creators, 132 million active fans and $6.3 billion paid to creators (reported, not independently checked). The older "4 million creators" figure counts accounts, not people actively earning.
How Much Does OnlyFans Take, and When Do Creators Get Paid?
The help center states that creators receive 80% of any fan payment, including subscriptions, paid messages and tips. OnlyFans keeps the other 20%.
Earnings sit in a pending state for 7 days before they can be withdrawn. In a few high-chargeback countries, the help center says the hold is 21 days for a creator's first four months.
The minimum withdrawal is $20 for most payout methods. Where the method allows, creators can request a payout manually or set an automatic monthly, weekly or daily schedule.
Available payout methods depend on the creator's country, so check the Statements page before relying on one. For tax questions, see our OnlyFans tax guide, and for a plain fee explainer see what percentage OnlyFans takes.
The referral programme pays 5% of a referred creator's fan payments for 12 months, capped at $50,000 per referred creator.
What Do Fans Actually Pay?
Fans pay nothing to open an account. Each creator sets a monthly subscription between $4.99 and $50, or chooses a free account and charges for individual items instead.
Creators can also sell multi-month bundles, with a maximum bundle price of $250. Prices are in US dollars, and indirect sales tax is added where it applies.
Pay-to-unlock messages and posts cost between $3 and $100 each. Tips start at $3 and are capped at $100 for new users, rising to $200 after four months. New fans can spend up to $500 a day.
Some locations add a "jurisdiction charge" that is shown before payment. Subscriptions auto-renew, and money added to the platform wallet is non-refundable under the terms.
Card statements show "OnlyFans", "OF" or "OnlyFans.com", so the charge is not hidden. See how OnlyFans shows on a bank statement and how to cancel a subscription.
How Much Can Creators Realistically Earn?
No verified earnings figure for a typical creator is published, so this review does not quote one. Claims about a median monthly income or a first-year range had no source and were removed.
What is documented is scale. The 2025 totals cited above suggest a large pool of paying fans, but that does not tell a new creator what to expect.
The help center does not describe an on-platform discovery feed that sends traffic to new creators. Most creators therefore promote from outside social channels, as covered in our guide to promoting an OnlyFans.
Agencies and "chatters" who reply to fans on a creator's behalf are widespread. Class actions filed since 2023 allege some fans were misled about who they were talking to, and the outcome has varied by defendant (reported).
Is OnlyFans Safe, Private and Age-Verified?
Fans must be at least 18 and may be asked to prove their age and identity before opening an account, depending on where they live. Creators must supply a valid ID plus two photos and a payout method, and may face extra checks.
The help center lists two-step authentication, watermarking and DRM protection as available tools. Leaks are still possible, because anyone who can view content can record it.
The terms allow AI-generated content only when it clearly features the verified creator and is labelled, for example with #ai. There is no public API, and AI chatbot integrations are not permitted.
For how visible a subscriber is to creators, see is OnlyFans anonymous. Creators who worry about leaks should read how to protect your content.
Account removal steps are in the account deletion guide.
What Is OnlyFans' Record on Regulation, Payments and Ownership?
In August 2021 OnlyFans announced it would ban sexually explicit content from 1 October, citing pressure from banking and payment partners. On 25 August it suspended the plan after creator backlash. The episode shows how dependent adult platforms are on payment processors.
On 27 March 2025, the UK regulator Ofcom fined Fenix International £1.05 million for giving inaccurate answers about its age checks. The company had said its facial age-estimation "challenge age" was 23, when it had been set at 20 from November 2021.
In 2022, rival platforms and a performer class alleged OnlyFans paid staff at a social network to get creators linked to rivals placed on a terror watchlist.
The performer class action was dismissed in August 2023 for lack of jurisdiction over Fenix, and OnlyFans denied the allegations (reported).
In March 2026, press reported the death of the company's majority owner. In May 2026, press reported that Fenix sold a 16% minority stake to Architect Capital for $535 million, a valuation of about $3.15 billion.
None of this changes the fee or payout terms today, but it is relevant to anyone judging long-term stability.
Does OnlyFans Have an App?
No. The help center states plainly: "OnlyFans does not have an App." It suggests adding the website to your phone's home screen for app-like access.
An official app listing for OFTV exists, but that is a separate safe-for-work service. Other apps using the OnlyFans name are not official.
How This Review Was Researched
This review was compiled in October 2026 from OnlyFans' terms of service, its help center pages on fees, payouts, pricing and verification, the UK Companies House record and Ofcom's published decision.
Press coverage from Rolling Stone, Qz and Tubefilter was used for the 2021 ban, the 2026 ownership changes and scale figures.
No account was created, no subscription was bought and the platform was not used directly. Quality sub-scores therefore rest on documented features and third-party reporting, so they carry lower confidence than a review based on direct use.
Facts were last checked on 8 October 2026 and may change.
How Does OnlyFans Compare With Other Creator Platforms?
Fansly also keeps 20% and lets creators set subscriptions from $5 up to $499.99. Fanvue has a standard 20% fee and a $3.99–$100 subscription range. ManyVids is more of a clip marketplace, where creators keep 60% on videos.

Wallet balances are non-refundable under the terms, and subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. See our guides on cancelling a subscription and deleting an account for the steps.
