Kalon AI Review 2026: Why the App Is Offline Right Now

Kalon AI (kalon.ai) is a browser-based "AI girlfriend" and adult companion app.

The idea is simple: you create or pick a character, give it a personality and look, and then chat with it — with the paid tiers adding voice replies, image generation and short video.

It is an 18+ platform built around mature, opt-in content, and it runs entirely in the web browser. There is no official iOS or Android app, so you use it the same way on a phone or a computer.

The company behind it does not put its name on the site — the domain is registered privately — and its footer lists only a support email (hello@kalon.ai) plus a Reddit community (r/kalonai) and a Discord.

That keeps it in the same "undisclosed operator" bracket as a lot of adult AI tools, which matters more for trust than for whether the product works.

Yes — as of 13 October 2026, Kalon AI’s core features are offline. A notice on the platform’s own homepage reads: "All AI features (chat, image, video generation) are down until further notice.

We will instead work on version 2 in the coming months that will be a full rehaul."

In plain terms, the three things Kalon AI is built around — chatting with your companion, generating images, and making video — are all switched off. The sign-up pages and marketing still load, but the product behind them does not currently work.

This looks recent, not long-standing. Independent reviews from as late as June 2026 described Kalon AI as fully operational, with working voice chat, image generation in under ten seconds, and live video.

So the shutdown happened after that, and the company is framing it as a pause for a full rebuild rather than a permanent closure.

The catch is that there is no relaunch date — "in the coming months" is the only timeline given.

Until a new version ships and is confirmed working, treat Kalon AI as unavailable, and do not buy a subscription or coins expecting to use them today.

Everything below is what Kalon AI advertised and what reviewers described while it was live. Right now none of it is usable — read it as what the app set out to do, and what "version 2" would need to bring back.

• Character chat with memory. You build a companion — appearance, personality, backstory, speaking style — or start from a preset, then chat. Its main selling point was persistent, "emotional" memory that carried details across conversations instead of resetting each time.
• Voice replies. Paid plans added audio, so the companion could answer out loud. Reviewers consistently called the voice usable but noticeably synthetic — a weak spot rather than a highlight.
• Image generation. Four styles were offered — Photo realistic, Original realistic, Smooth realistic and Anime — generating one to six images per batch depending on your plan, with praise for keeping a character looking consistent across outfits and poses.
• Video generation. Short video was a paid feature, plus an "Image Video" option flagged as new and experimental.
• Adult / NSFW controls. Kalon leaned further into mature content than many mainstream companion apps, using consent sliders and kink presets rather than a single on/off switch, and advertised "encrypted explicit chat".

On paper that is a complete companion stack — chat, memory, voice, images and video in one place. The honest caveat is that a stack is only as good as its uptime, and Kalon AI currently has none.

Kalon AI ran on a coin (credit) system: chatting and generating images both draw from the same balance. There was a free tier plus two paid plans, and these are the prices listed on its own pricing page.

The paid plans unlocked multiple images per batch, video, audio (voice) and "smarter" chat; the yearly plan was marketed as "save 50%" versus paying monthly. That pricing is squarely mid-market — cheaper than some rivals, in line with the common $10–$20 band.

How fast do coins go? Third-party reviews reported that a photo-realistic image cost around 10 coins each, with video and voice costing more (the exact amounts were never published).

On that basis the 16,000-coin monthly plan works out to roughly 1,600 images — but because chat draws from the same pool, real-world counts run lower, and "coins drain too fast" was the single most common cost complaint even when the app worked.

Refunds and cancellation. Reviewers who read Kalon’s terms report that payments are treated as final unless the law requires otherwise, though UK and EU buyers keep a 14-day withdrawal right (a proportionate charge can apply once you have used a paid feature).

You cancel from Settings → Subscription → Unsubscribe, and access runs to the end of the billing cycle. Leftover coins have no cash value and expire when an account is deleted.

One practical heads-up: the charge on your card statement may not match the "Kalon" brand name.

Today, though, one problem outranks all of this: paying for coins buys access to features that are switched off, so do not subscribe until the service is confirmed back online.

On the basic "is this a scam or a virus" question, Kalon AI looks legitimate rather than fraudulent.

The site uses HTTPS, has a valid SSL certificate, and an automated trust scan rated the domain roughly 80 out of 100 and did not find it blacklisted. It is a real product that genuinely worked until recently, not a phishing page.

The fair criticisms are about transparency and the usual adult-AI risks, not honesty:

• Undisclosed operator. Ownership is hidden behind WHOIS privacy — no company name, address or accountable contact beyond a support email. That is common in this niche, but it means you are trusting an anonymous company with intimate chats and any images you generate.
• Tiered age checks. The homepage markets itself as 18+ and, per third-party reports, runs a tiered check that starts with an age gate and can escalate to ID verification where local law requires it — but the site does not explain this clearly up front.
• Privacy claims are unverified. Kalon advertised "encrypted explicit chat" and policies about not selling data, but these are the company’s own statements and we could not independently confirm them.
• Never upload a real person’s photo. Kalon’s own policy bans content made to resemble a real, identifiable person without documented written consent — and building a character from someone’s photo without permission is exactly where adult-image tools create legal and ethical trouble. Don’t.

On data specifically, reviewers who read Kalon’s privacy policy report that it collects account details, tokenized payment data, your chats, images and voice data, plus device, IP and city-level location.

The policy says it does not sell personal data and does not use private chats or images to train outside models, but it is silent on training its own; data is shared with speech, analytics, support and age-verification providers; retention is open-ended ("as long as reasonably necessary"); and deletion is by email request (confirmed within about ten business days), with no in-app delete button reported.

One honest note that applies to any companion app, Kalon included: these products are built to be emotionally sticky, and spending can creep up through impulse coin top-ups.

If logging in starts to affect your sleep, mood or budget, treat that as a signal to step back.

The platform has switched off its AI features for everyone, so these failures are expected right now.

Here is how to tell the outage apart from an ordinary glitch:

• It is the outage if you can reach kalon.ai and even sign in, but chat, images or video simply do nothing or throw an error. That matches the site’s own "all AI features are down" notice.
• It might be your setup only if the whole site will not open at all — then try a different browser, turn off a VPN or ad blocker, clear the site’s cookies, and check whether your network blocks adult sites.

Either way, there is no fix a user can apply to bring the AI back: that is on Kalon, and only its "version 2" relaunch will restore it. Until then, a working alternative is the only way to actually use an AI companion today.

Right now, Kalon AI is for almost nobody — not because the concept was bad, but because the product does not run. There is no usable chat, image or video, so even a perfect fit should wait.

If and when a working "version 2" ships, Kalon AI would suit an adult who wants a single browser-based companion with memory, mature content, and both image and video generation at a mid-market price, and who does not mind that the operator is anonymous.

You should skip it (or wait) if you want to use something today, need a native phone app, or want a named, accountable company behind an app you share intimate chats with.
